President's Letter
September 2007

Greetings and welcome to an exciting Program Year!

We are very pleased to present The Woman’s Club Yearbook for 2007-2008. We have developed a wonderful lineup of Monday programs to enrich our lives as well as exciting new activities that will fit into our busy schedules. So mark your calendars now.

We are especially thrilled that we will be celebrating the 150th birthday of our beautiful home, the Bolling Haxall House, in 2008. The courageous group of women who took a risk in 1900 and purchased the House were truly thinking of the future of The Club. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude. As members of The Woman’s Club, it is incumbent upon us to honor their efforts by contributing to the maintenance and financial well-being of our beloved home.

With the help of the Program Committee and the Special Activities Committee, we have designed special events and educational programs to mark the 150th anniversary throughout the year. Bill Martin, director of the Valentine Richmond History Museum, will headline a special Fall Lecture Program about the House on October 11.

Note that the Yearbook dividers this year feature photos of the House prior to 1900.

We look forward to seeing you on Mondays as well as at the various events planned to celebrate the birthday of one of the grande dames of Richmond, the Bolling Haxall House.
